{"id":13,"date":"2015-10-10T19:13:46","date_gmt":"2015-10-11T00:13:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/riedy.us\/CAT2015b\/?page_id=13"},"modified":"2020-11-30T11:24:48","modified_gmt":"2020-11-30T16:24:48","slug":"love-a-trail","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.car-free.org\/lvcat\/love-a-trail\/","title":{"rendered":"Love Our Trails"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>A compilation of local multi-use trails around the Lehigh Valley.<\/h4>\n<p><!--more-->The most complete and up-to-date trail map of the Lehigh Valley is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/@40.6482529,-75.4340753,11.66z\/data=!5m1!1e3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google Maps<\/a> with the &#8220;Bicycling&#8221; layer turned on in the upper left corner (click on the three horizontal lines).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelinktrails.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">THE LINK Trail Network<\/a> compiles trail listings for around the Lehigh Valley. <a href=\"https:\/\/lvgreenways.org\/trail-content\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Submit trails here!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Also, try a great trail finder and trail information at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.traillink.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Traillink.com<\/a> (type in your town, state).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lvcat.org\/lvcat\/wp-content\/uploads\/BethlehemByBicycleMap.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">View the Bethlehem by Bicycle Map<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Lehigh Valley\u00a0trails:<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/delawareandlehigh.org\/map\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Delaware and Lehigh Canal Trail<\/a> &#8211; 140 miles existing of 165 miles planned from Bristol to Wilkes Barre. \u00a0Passes through Easton, Bethlehem and Allentown. \u00a0Surface varies from pavement to smooth hardpack to roots and rocks here and there. \u00a0Definitely an epic trail for scenery and connecting communities with very few road crossings. Some missing links are still being connected from Allentown to Northampton. Check out the Mansion House Bridge in Jim Thorpe, completed in 2019. Additional trail maps at <a href=\"https:\/\/tailonthetrail.org\/the-trail\/\">D&amp;L&#8217;s Tail on the Trail program.<\/a> Access the D&amp;L Trail in Bethlehem from Sand Island.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/viewer?hl=en&amp;t=h&amp;msa=0&amp;z=13&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;mid=zHEcrbYY5vH0.k7UEBLOdzsEE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">South Bethlehem Greenway<\/a> &#8211; 2 miles from South New Street to Lynn Street. Paved with future plans to connect to Hellertown.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pahighlands.org\/?section=monocacy-way-and-bethlehem-trail-loop\">Monocacy Way Trail<\/a> &#8211; 2.6 miles from Sand Island in downtown Bethlehem to Illick&#8217;s Mill Park. Great walking trail (less suitable for bicycling), passes through Burnside Plantation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sauconrailtrail.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Saucon Rail Trail<\/a> &#8211; 7 miles, Hellertown to Coopersburg. Future extension in progress to Quakertown and Bethlehem<\/p>\n<p>Jordan Creek Greenway &#8211; 3.5 miles has been completed from 7th St in Allentown (near the Home Depot) heading northwest towards Jordan Parkway, which includes a new pedestrian bridge across the creek to Mickley Road. An additional 10.5 miles is planned that will connect to Covered Bridge Park in South Whitehall.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.palmertwp.com\/bikewalking-paths.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Palmer Township Bike Path<\/a> (part of Two Rivers Trailway) &#8211; 15 miles from Easton to Bethlehem Township to Tatamy. A paved rail trail, flat except for a 2 mile uphill from Route 33 Boat Access to Freemansburg Ave.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/twp.plainfield.pa.us\/pdf\/TrailBrochure.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stockertown\/Plainfield Twp Trail<\/a> (part of Two Rivers Trailway) &#8211; 9 miles from Stockertown to Pen Argyl. A smooth, shaded and super scenic trail along the Little Bushkill Creek. \u00a0Rough surface and steep grades up to 15% the last mile between Grand Central Road and Buss Road.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northamptoncounty.org\/PUBWRKS\/PARKREC\/Pages\/Nor-Bath-Trail.aspx\">Nor-Bath Trail<\/a> &#8211; 5 miles from Northampton to Bath. \u00a0Beautiful scenery running through a tree line amidst farm fields not yet developed.\u00a0 Passes through Bicentennial Park (East Allen Township). Paved.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.whitehalltownship.com\/railtrail.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ironton Rail Trail<\/a> &#8211; 9 miles from Coplay to North Whitehall Township. Some paved, some cinder. Great scenery and mostly flat terrain.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/karlstirnerartstrail.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Karl Stirner Arts Trail<\/a> &#8211; 2\u00a0miles from downtown Easton to 13th Street.
