CAT works with Lehigh Valley community members (adults and older teenagers) who are interested in riding their bicycles more often, for more reasons, such as: commuting to work, shopping, and for exercise. By engaging these individuals with encouragement, training, and mentorship, CAT’s objective is to see them riding more frequently, with reduced conflicts, and fewer setbacks.
The Adult Bike Commuter program reaches out to low-income adults who may bicycle out of necessity, who, as much as middle and upper class adults, have room to grow to understand a bicyclist’s responsibilities and rights on public streets.

Adult Bicycle Commuter Support includes four facets:
- Engagement – Information sessions for small and large businesses, municipalities and colleges around the Lehigh Valley.
- Equipment – Providing a quality bicycle and basic equipment such as a helmet, lights, and a lock to low/moderate-income adults who don’t otherwise have access to such.
- Training – Smart Cycling and CyclingSavvy classes for adult students held at CAT’s center in Bethlehem.
- Mentorship – Ongoing support at the CAT Bicycle Cooperative so that participants can visit on their own availability for route mapping guidance and bicycle/equipment setup and maintenance.
Contact CAT to schedule an information session with your employees – as part of your wellness program or environmental initiatives.
