The Bethlehem Bicycle Cooperative (BBC) is an educational bike shop open for members and guests Thursdays from 5-9pm and Saturdays from 8AM to 4PM.
Guest passes are just $5 for an individual and $10 for a family today!
Today’s Bicycle Quotation:
“Your bicycle invigorates you, strengthens you, relaxes you, lets you vent your frustrations without interrupting, nodding off or making judgments. Your bicycle helps you meet other people. Your bicycle always goes where you want to go. And if you buy your bicycle a box of chocolates for Valentine’s Day, you get to eat them all.” Scott Martin
* If you have a favorite quotation or an interesting story about cycling please share as a comment below and maybe next week we will feature it in our post
Members use BBC Tools with mechanic assistance:
Jeff Vitelli continued his work with LCI Steve Schmitt. They covered quick releases, checking handlebars and stem before riding. More on emergency stopping, such as never un-weighting the saddle by standing when descending a hill. Steve showed Jeff how the derailleurs work with the bike in a bike stand. Steve explained gear ratios, not crossing the chain, cadence. Jeff spent a while with Steve going over the guidelines for riding in a group because Jeff is in the LEPOCO bike-a-thon next Saturday.
There was a basic class this past Wednesday. Scott Slingerland taught Joyce Marin, Amy Wressell and Sandy Walter the first 2-hours.

This week’s donations:
The BBC accepts donations of bicycles, bike parts, tools and supplies on Thursdays from 5-9PM and Saturdays from 8AM to 4PM at 1935 W Broad St. in Bethlehem. We provide a receipt for all contributions and we are a 501(c)3 educational charity under the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Right now we are also hoping someone will donate a work sink we can install in the BBC.
Chris Vitlos and his daughter stopped by on their way to volunteer at the Calypso Elementary School Bike Jam. So did Stephen Kraft. As did Derek Vachinno.
Jeff Vitelli came in and bought another one-day pass for $5.
