5K Run June 16, 2013, Showcases the Monocacy Way

The trail run starts at 9AM sharp on Sunday, Father’s Day, June 16th at Burnside Plantation.

Timing and complete race results provided by PeakRace.com.

Aardvark Sports Shop and the Bethlehem Police Department are the major sponsors.

Male and Female winners in four age groups receive $25 gift certificates to Aardvark Sports Shop.

Father/daughter or father/son teams are encouraged and win extra prizes.

Our thanks to Hello Burrito, Backdoor Bakeshop, Armstrong Shiatsu and Reflexologist, Sandra Stola at Profiles Hair Salon for providing gift certificate prizes for teams with fathers.

Right now 51 people are registered to run, last year 41 runners participated.

The event benefits CAT-Coalition for Appropriate Transportation trail programs to popularize the Monocacy Way. “Thanks to the efforts of our Parks & Public Property Department we have a beautiful trail that is just a 5 minute walk from downtown,” says CAT Director, Steve Schmitt.”It’s easy to walk or bike to this trail.”

The Bethlehem Police horses are stabled at Burnside Plantation, the start and finish of the MW5K.

The Bethlehem Police Department co-sponsors the MW5K Run.

Parking for the event is in the Martin Tower lot off 8th Avenue.

The Bethlehem Parks & Public Property Department maintains the Monocacy Way.

CAT-Coalition for Appropriate Transportation supports urban trails to make recreation more accessible to walkers, cyclists and those relying on public transportation.
