Thanks to generous terms from CAR-FREE CAT Advisory Committee Member, Barrett Ladd, we will open a new bike cooperative called BBC West at 1935 Broad Street in West Bethlehem. The Bethlehem Zoning Board granted Barrett’s application for a special exception to operate a bike cooperative April 25. Attorney Sarah Andrew did a great job representing Barrett & CAT at the hearing.
During May, League Cycling Instructor J. Dietrich Reisenberger put in more than 25 hours disposing of old ceiling tiles, carpet and floor tiles. He also spent time removing old paint. LCI-to-be Gary Warren worked more than 10 hours painting and carting away materials left by the previous business. CAT Member Sue Hohe has been a big help, using her truck to haul away debris.
Work crews for cleaning are scheduled every Wednesday from 5-9PM and Sundays from 10AM to 2PM. If you want to help, either with the cleaning or the operation of this facility, please call the CAR-FREE Bike Director, Scott Slingerland: 845 430 6552 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
J. Reisenberger is now preparing a floor plan so we can have Bethlehem inspect the property for a permit to opertate. Official opening is expected this summer.
