Tom Reese and Lee Poole Smith accompanied League Cycling Instructor (LCI) Steve Schmitt for a Bicycle Heaven Ride to the SteelStacks Farmers Market where Tom won two tickets to the Banko Alehouse Cinema. Tom is the DJ for the Save the BBC North Block Party June 9th.  Lee Poole Smith is an LCI candidate who took his Traffic Skills 101 road test tonight.

The Bethlehem Bicycle Cooperative (BBC) is open for Members and Guests every Thursday from 5-9pm and Saturday from 8AM to 4PM. We are located at 14 West Raspberry in beautiful, downtown Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

CAT members using BBC Tools with mechanic assistance:

  • Barry Shook came in to tune his bike.  He made derailleur adjustments, cleaned his cassette and chain and aired his tires.  Barry inquired about types of hybrid-tread tires that would work on his mountain bike and will visit Cutters Bike Shop to inspect what they carry
  • Lee Poole Smith repacked the bearings on his rear 8-speed internal hub.
  • Steve Schmitt tacoed a wheel on his ride to Allentown yesterday.  Scott replaced it with a wheel from a bike awaiting repair.  Scott also included a new wheel in the order for parts going in this evening.

Bike Education:

Steve reviewed starting and stopping with Tom Reese, who is doing excellently returning to bike riding after after not riding for at least 10 years.

Tom Reese and Lee Poole Smith went on a TS101 Bicycle Heaven Ride with Steve.  This was Tom’s second ride and his endurance is improving greatly.

Bike Library Activity (See what’s available now!)

Scott worked on Steve’s Raleigh commuter bike which had a taco’d rear wheel.

James Kinlaw stopped in to check on his future library bike, but did not have time to continue his Traffic Skills 101.

Dave Leipert borrowed a bike and some lights to go check out the bicycle count at Linden and Elizabeth Streets in Bethlehem with Scott Slingerland.  J. Dietrich Reisenberger and Joshua Buck are counting this evening.
