Bob Pearse began his Traffic Skills 101 course work. After filling out the waiver/registration form, Bob started right in on the course which begins with helmet, helmet fit, why we wear a helmet and what a helmet won’t do. Then Bob picked out a bike to train on as his in the shop. Steve helped Bob fit the bike to his specifications and showed Bob how to do an ABC Quick check of his tires, brakes and bearing rings. Steve shared with him the time-saving benefits of keeping one’s tires full of air. After practicing the correct way to start and stop a bicycle, Steve and Bob spent some quality time on the basic skills course covering signalling, scanning, standing up to ride uphill and the emergency stop. After watching the Traffic Skills 101 video, Bob called it a day. He’s coming back anytime on a Thursday evening or Saturday to continue.
Steve discusses some basics with Benjamin Torrez such as brake adjusting, drive train maintenance, tire pressure and spoke issues.
