CAT Bicycle Library: Now you can ride a Mountain Bike to work, use a Cannondale Road Bike on the weekends and borrow a trailer to haul your groceries, all for $300 over the first year and just $150 a year thereafter. You can even borrow a bike for a friend or relative for up to three days. The Bike Library is designed to help someone using a bicycle for transportation have affordable, reliable transportation. Both the Smart Cycling: Traffic Skills 101 and Basic Mechanic classes are required for someone to use the Bicycle Library.
Training includes riding with a League of American Bicyclists certified Cycling Instructor on the recommended routes between your home and favorite destinations like your job, SteelStacks, your favorite trail or your family & friends’ homes. Once both classes are completed to the satisfaction of the instructors you may use any bike in our library. Take it home. Come back when you have a problem or want to use a different bike or accessory.
The bicycles are serviced once a month in our shop called the Bethlehem Bicycle Cooperative (open Thursday evenings and Saturdays). Most participants come in more often because they know we provide solutions to keep your travel by bicycle safe and satisfying. Maintenance is FREE.
