Road Two is the formal name for the advanced bike
safety class offered to graduates of Road One by the League of
American Bicyclists.
All
Road Two classes are taught by a League
Cycling Instructor (LCI), insured by American
Specialty.
Road Two is designed to further develop the craft and science of bicycling; to
provide a more advanced ability to use a bicycle with confidence and competence
for pleasure, utility and/or sport under various highway climate, terrain and
traffic conditions. Road II expands on the fundamental bicycle handling
skills, responsible road sharing and mechanical content in Road I.
Road Two adds student diagnosis of mechanical problems and instructor
demonstration of the most frequent bicycle maintenance procedures; continues to
build rider skill in traffic negotiation and dealing with the nuances that
hilly, curvy rural roads present and expands bicycle handling skills and
techniques for increased rider condition and comfort. A goal of Road II is the for the
graduates to be able to recognize when their bicycle needs maintenance, to
provide a better understanding of bicycle components, diagnosis, and
maintenance and be able to knowledgeably communicate with the bicycle shop
service department staff.
CAT
does not teach Road II as a stand-alone class at this time. If you want to take Road II you must get in
touch with a League Cycling Instructor directly. CAT will be happy to facilitate your meeting the right instructor
for you. Call 610,954,5744 and ask for
Bike Director, Paul Juniper or email Paul at bbc@car-free.org.
For
those who want advanced education in bicycle mechanics we recommend our 12-hour Park Tool School
Mechanic Class.
Also
